£395.00
Item number: 32003

A very interesting rare Anglo Indian solid silver hip flask. It is marked SILVER and tests as high grade silver. It has been stylishly designed and engraved 'COLONEL W. MacNaught M.C. FROM THE OFFERS OF 107 B.G.H. JALAHALLI JULY 1945'. BGH were the British General Hospitals, I think this could refer to William MacNaught RAMC who is mention in the gazette during WWI receiving his MC in 1918 for gallantry under fire whilst removing wounded.

Lt. (T./Capt.) William Wyllie MacNaught, M.B., R.A.M.C. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He organised a bearer party during an action, and collected and cleared many wounded under heavy shell fire. His prompt and gallant action saved many lives.

It is in superb condition being free from splits holes and repairs. It measures approx. 6 inches (15.5cm) tall by 4 inches (10cm) across 1 inch (2.6cm) wide and weighs 306 grams. A superbly made interesting piece.
