A very unusual German Hanau export solid silver table snuff or trinket box. It is hallmarked with German Hanau makers marks and tests as high grade silver. I would date it to c1900. It has been superbly made being cast with a lid scene depicting what appears to be a boy getting spanked? It is in super condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs, the inside is clean and the lid closes tightly. It measures approx. 3 inches (7.5cms) across by 1.75 inches (4.7cms) wide by 1 inch (2.7cms) tall and weighs 77 grams. A very unusual piece.
