A superb rare early Georgian English antique solid sterling silver basting spoon. It is hallmarked for London 1759 with the maker being Thomas & William Chawner. It has been well made to what is termed Old English pattern and has been engraved with an unusual crest of a naked man holding a palm tree, this is the crest of the Cavall Family. It is in super condition being free from dings splits distortions and repairs. It measures approx. 12 inches (30.5cm) long by 2 inches (5.2cm) wide and weighs 102 grams. A very well made example.
