A rare large English antique solid sterling silver and enamel cigarette case. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1926 with the maker being Charles S Green & Co Ltd. It has been superbly designed being decorated with the enamel coat of arms of Exeter College Oxford University. The inside is gilded and engraved 'Sincere Congratulations H and HH 19th August 1926', so it may be possible to work out who owned it, most likely someone of high status from Devon where a lot of Exeter College students came from. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. The enamel is free from chips cracks and repairs. It has a strong mechanism. It measures over 4.5 inches (11.7cm) across by over 3.25 inches (8.5cm) wide and weighs 172 grams. A very high quality example.
