SCOTTISH PROVINCIAL PERTH STERLING SILVER CRESTED SPOON c1820 LEECH FAMILY
£68.00
Item number:
29949
A very rare Scottish provincial solid sterling silver spoon. It is hallmarked with Scottish provincial marks for Perth with the maker being Charles Murray who was active in Perth between 1816 to 1836. It has been superbly designed and has been engraved with a snake crest used by the Leech family (there can't be many families of that name living around Perth that could afford silverware at this time). It is in good condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs. It measures approx. 7 inches (17.8cm) long by over 1.5 inches (4cm) wide and weighs 32 grams. A beautifully made rare and interesting example.
